What motivated you to become an insurance professional?

I did not set out to become an insurance professional - it just sort of happened! Yet working in the insurance industry has become one of my biggest passions because I really do believe in the importance of the work that we do. When our clients have a claim, we provide something to be positive about in an otherwise difficult situation. This aligns very well with my own personal mantra: "There is always, always, always something to be thankful for."

What do you love most about your work?

The people! Not only the amazing team we have assembled inside the walls of R&R Insurance, but the professionals outside our organization that I have the opportunity to collaborate with. I also have the pleasure of sitting down with clients (and soon-to-be clients), and listening to their stories; stories about their passions and their goals. I get to see what's most important to them. Hearing these client stories and helping them plan for (and protect) their futures is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job.

What has been your biggest success in the past year?

I had the opportunity to speak at an employee retirement recently. My goal was to ensure she felt valued and was reminded of the importance of the contributions she made during her 30+ year career in insurance. Little did I know she would turn it around by thanking *me* for mentoring her and for bringing her on as part of our team. It was great to know that she felt her career was meaningful, and to know I played a role in that was an incredible honor!

What did you wake up excited about today?

As my days continue to fill up both at work and at home, I'm now in the habit of setting my alarm earlier than necessary so I can carve out a few precious moments to myself before the rest of the world wakes up. I use that time to give thanks, do some self-reflection, some coffee, some planning, and some exercise to get my mind and body focused, aligned and ready to tackle the day. Since that's such an important part of my routine, I don't mind the sound of the alarm because I know what's waiting for me once I get out of bed!
