Important Update for Secura Insurance Policyholders

Transitioning to Encova Insurance with Ease

On October 20, 2023 Secura Insurance announced that they are exiting the personal insurance market. As of 2/1/2024 they began non-renewing business outside of Wisconsin, while on 1/1/2025 they will begin non-renewing business in Wisconsin.

As your renewal is quickly approaching, it's a good time to review your insurance coverage needs with us. To better serve you, we will move your personal lines policies to Encova Insurance at your upcoming renewal. Encova is rated A (excellent) by AM Best and is a key partner for our agency. We are confident you will be pleased with this transition. You will receive your new policy documents approximately 45 days prior to your renewal date. Why is Secura Insurance exiting the Personal Lines Insurance Market?

The home and auto insurance business has been challenging in recent years. Increased costs of labor and materials along with several bad midwestern storms and rising re-insurance costs (insurance for insurance companies) has put Secura in a spot where they believe they cannot raise rates enough to be both competitive and profitable. 

For Secura, Personal Lines represents about 20% of their revenue, the remainder being in Commercial and Specialty lines. In short, they made a business decision to focus on where they are having more success.

What will happen to my personal home and/or auto policy with Secura?

R&R will be moving Secura insurance policies to another one of our trusted carriers, Encova Insurance. This an AM Best A-rated (excellent) insurance carrier with strong financials and is a long time partner with R&R Insurance.

Is there anything I need to do?

A member of our Personal Lines Client Service Team will be in contact to obtain a signed cancellation form for your current Secura policy – this can all be done electronically through DocuSign.  If your policy was paid through EFT, we will need to obtain updated account information to establish your automatic payment plan.

How long do I have before my policy expires with Secura?

Secura will officially non-renew Wisconsin policies beginning January 1st, 2025. However, Secura is releasing renewals in 2024 with reduced coverage, higher deductibles, and rate increases as high as 50% or more. As your trusted advisor, R&R has made the decision to transfer your policies to Encova in 2024.

What is Encova Insurance?

Encova Insurance is a super-regional carrier ranked in the top 20 mutual insurance companies in the United States. Based out of Columbus, Ohio they insure over $1 billion in premiums with a surplus in excess of $1.96 billion. They write business in 28 states.

What if my policies aren't a good fit with Encova Insurance?

Although we will make every effort to transfer your policies to Encova, we also partner with over 20 additional insurance companies. If Encova is not a good fit based on coverage and/or price, our team will work with you directly to place your policies with a more suitable insurance company.

Is Secura Insurance going out of business?

No, they are continuing to insure a wide range of commercial businesses including farm, agriculture, and specialty lines. They will maintain their A-rating and continue their other operations.
